Drew University’s largest dining hall, The Commons, was dark, uninviting and in desperate need of a renovation. The University’s goal for the new Commons space was to create a social experience that reinforced Drew’s commitment to outside-the-classroom learning. Kimmel Bogrette met the goals of the University by renovating the 30,000 square foot space and creating a unique, comfortable social space where the campus community can gather for a meal, a meeting, to relax, socialize or exchange ideas. The recently completed dining hall provides a balance of banquet seating, tables, chairs and soft furniture similar to coffee shop setting. All furniture is easily stacked and removed to create a versatile space to be used for a variety of classes and events.
