Kimmel Bogrette was selected by Ocean County College to perform major renovations and an expansion of the Instructional Building that is home to all of the College’s Science and Technical Teaching Programs. This project transformed older lab spaces into state-of-the-art, experiential teaching environments.
Built in 1967, the Instructional Building’s classrooms, lab spaces and systems were woefully outdated. OCC budgeted $11,400,000 in state-approved, Higher Education Capital Facilities Funds to renovate, equip, furnish, upgrade and add additional space to the building. Classrooms, lecture rooms and labs were designed with flexible tables and chairs, wireless computing, multimedia capabilities with large-screen LCD televisions and projection screens, and rolling whiteboards to make it easy for students to discuss academic activities. A dramatic “wave-like” expansion on the front enhances Ocean County College’s “brand,” while adding a more inviting entry into an indoor atrium where students can connect, study, gather and collaborate.
