The mission of Kimmel Bogrette’s study was to create a design that would convert the existing Dining Hall from “the Place to Eat” into “the Place to Be!” The new Dining Hall will have a variety of seating options for 370 people and will be the place for students, faculty and staff to gather, interact, collaborate and dine throughout the day and week- not just at traditional meal time. The key goals of the design included:
• Making the dining hall a destination that makes having a meal desirable, even for commuter students.
• Creating a space that does not feel like a dining hall and instead, feels like a place to be that happens to have great food options.
• Bringing energy and life to the space.
• Creating multiple seating options for eating, working & collaborating.
